How to Start Playing Fableborne — Seasonal ARPG, Free, Between-Seasons Prep
Fableborne is Pixion Games’ free mobile action-RPG on Ronin — and it plays by an unusual rule: the game is only online during seasonal opens, each lasting roughly a month, with the client closing between seasons by design. Season 5 ended September 21, 2026, which makes this exactly the right time to learn how to get in before the next open — the honest answer is download, register, and watch for the Season 6 date rather than trying to play right now.
What Fableborne is#
A free-to-play hack-and-slash ARPG for iOS and Android from Pixion Games, built on the Ronin network. You dungeon-dive for loot and build up a kingdom; the competitive layer is seasonal guild events with prize pools — Season 5 ran August 17 to September 21, 2026 and pushed the player share of its pool to 95%. Five seasons in, the open/close cadence is the game’s normal rhythm, not a warning sign. Current status sits on the Fableborne registry profile.
Requirements#
- An iOS or Android device — Fableborne is mobile-only; there is no PC or browser client.
- An account — standard registration inside the official app during a season open.
- A Ronin wallet — optional — only needed if you want Kingdom or Primordial NFTs, or the POWER token, later. Nothing about playing a season requires one.
The start — between seasons#
- Install the official app from the iOS App Store or Google Play — published by Pixion Games only.
- Create your account and complete the tutorial if the client allows it while closed; if the client is offline, the account registration still puts you in position for the next open.
- Join the official Discord and follow the official X account — season dates, pre-registration rewards and guild-recruitment pushes are announced there first.
- When the next season opens, play the campaign and join a guild early — seasonal prize pools are guild-competed, and early joiners shape guild strength.
- Optionally explore the web3 side (Kingdom/Primordial NFTs, POWER) once the core loop makes sense to you — it adds ownership and marketplace depth, not required gameplay.
The honest economics#
Fableborne is genuinely free: seasons, the campaign, guild play and prize-pool eligibility don’t require purchases. The optional layer — Kingdom and Primordial NFTs on Ronin Market and the POWER token — wraps ownership around the loop rather than gating it. POWER is a game token like any other: it trades on real demand, can be worth very little, and prize-pool participation is not an income plan. Treat anything you buy as a game expense.
Also honest: a seasonal game lives and dies on whether the next season happens. Five opens in a row is a good track record, but a season schedule is a company decision each time — if opens ever stretch out unexplained, that’s the signal our profile status exists to catch.
What the assets do#
- Kingdom NFTs — the land/structure layer tied to kingdom-building gameplay.
- Primordial NFTs — character-level assets in the ecosystem.
- POWER — the utility token, earnable through seasonal play and spent inside the game economy.
For what ownership means mechanically — custody, marketplaces, what happens if a game winds down — see what game NFTs actually do.
