How to Start Faraland: Hero NFT or Demi Hero — the Honest Entry Cost
Faraland is a 2021-wave turn-based RPG on BNB Smart Chain — hero summoning, expedition quests, land NFTs and the FARA token — and one of the few P2E-era titles still live and still shipping official updates. The honest entry cost: starting costs a hero. You need a BNB wallet and at least one playable hero — either a permanent NFT hero or a cheap, limited-lifespan Demi Hero summoned with Soul Stones.
What Faraland is#
A browser RPG from the 2021 GameFi cohort — you field heroes in expeditions and PvP, level them, equip items and pets, and trade every piece as an NFT on the game’s own marketplace. It survived the post-2022 die-off: the official blog resumed regular dated updates through mid-2026 (marketplace and infrastructure posts), and the game itself is still online. The full picture sits on the Faraland registry profile.
Requirements#
- A browser — the game runs on faraland.io, no install.
- A BNB Smart Chain wallet — MetaMask or similar, with the BSC network added. The wallet is mandatory; this is a chain-first game, not a normal account game.
- A small amount of BNB — for gas plus the hero purchase itself (heroes list in BNB).
- At least one hero — either a permanent NFT hero from the marketplace or a Demi Hero summoned with Soul Stones. There is no free hero.
The start#
- Set up MetaMask and add the BNB Smart Chain network — the official guide at guide-faraland.gitbook.io walks through this step by step.
- Fund the wallet with BNB — enough for a hero plus a little gas. Buy BNB on any major exchange and withdraw to your wallet.
- Connect the wallet on faraland.io and open the marketplace — every hero, item, pet and land parcel lists there.
- Choose your entry: a permanent NFT hero (capped at 20,000 ever minted — floor prices are demand-set, so compare against the alternative below) or a Demi Hero, the game’s deliberate low-cost entry path.
- If going the Demi route: buy Soul Stones on the marketplace (or earn them in quests and PvP tournaments) and use them to summon a Demi Hero — identical to NFT heroes in race, abilities, fighting and earning, but with a limited lifespan you extend with more Soul Stones.
- Run expeditions — the PvE quest loop is where equipment, pets, EXP and Soul Stones come from; PvP tournaments sit alongside it.
- Add FARA only when you need it — FARA (the game’s BSC token) buys gacha item rolls and equipment and is the currency Demi Heroes themselves list in; PancakeSwap is the route the official docs point to.
What the NFT layer actually adds#
- A capped hero supply — only 20,000 NFT heroes exist, which is why entry pricing historically ran high and why the Demi Hero system exists at all.
- Demi Heroes as the real onboarding ramp — the studio replaced a planned free-hero mechanism with Soul Stone summons so new players pay a small FARA cost instead of a BNB hero floor. Over 7,000 Demis have sold on the marketplace at tens of FARA each.
- Everything is an asset — heroes, equipment, pets, land and Demi Heroes are all on-chain and all trade on the in-house marketplace, priced in BNB or FARA depending on the asset.
- Land with a fee cut — land NFTs earn a share of marketplace fees, the one yield-bearing asset class in the game.
