Immutable Passport Setup: Step-by-Step for Gamers

Immutable Passport is the wallet layer most Immutable-game players never notice — sign in with email or a social account and a wallet exists quietly underneath, no seed phrase, no extension install. If a game tells you to “connect Passport,” this is what it means and how to set it up safely.

What Passport actually is#

Immutable’s non-custodial wallet + single-sign-on for games on Immutable zkEVM (and related Immutable surfaces). Instead of a seed-phrase wallet, you create an account with email/Google/Apple sign-in, and Passport provisions the wallet behind it — the same login then works across every Passport-enabled game. It’s the answer to “games shouldn’t require crypto-literacy to start.”

Setting it up#

  1. Go to the Passport sign-up through a game that uses it (the login button inside an Immutable game routes there) — or the official passport page linked from immutable.com.
  2. Sign up with email or a social account — the wallet is created behind the login; there is no seed phrase to write down by default.
  3. The same login carries into every Passport-enabled game — one account, every title on the platform.
  4. When you later want your assets on another wallet or marketplace, Passport supports export/connection flows through its own settings — do that inside the official interface only.

What it connects to#

Passport is the sign-in across the Immutable game cluster — the titles tracked in our registry on the Immutable chain use it as their identity layer. It holds game NFTs and IMX tokens; swapping and marketplace activity happen through Passport-connected surfaces. Mechanics only — we don’t track asset prices.

What it changes and what it doesn’t#

What changes: sign-in becomes an ordinary account login instead of seed-phrase management, and one identity works across every Passport-integrated game and the marketplace rails.

What does not change: your assets still live on-chain against the Passport-linked wallet — Passport is an access layer, not a custodian holding items for you. Game progress is unaffected (progress sits in the game account, not the wallet). Listing items for sale is still a separate marketplace action; and losing access to the sign-in method (the email or social login) means going through account recovery — there is no seed-phrase fallback of the self-managed kind.

Safety notes#

Log into Passport only via the game that asks for it or immutable.com links. Fake Passport login modals are the #1 attack on this chain — a real Passport prompt happens inside the game’s own flow on an official domain, never from a pop-up link in chat or email. Never enter your Passport password on a page that didn’t come from the game itself.
